Morningstar United Methodist Church was founded in 1988, and was chartered as a congregation in 1992. The 10-year anniversary of the congregation's charter was celebrated in 2002, and the congregation celebrated the 20th anniversary of its founding in 2008. After meeting in various locations in northeastern Normal, the congregation moved to its present location in 1995.  Numerous congregations and organizations assisted with the building project.  The current structure includes a multipurpose space for worship and fellowship, office, kitchen, bathrooms, nursery, and three classrooms for all ages.
